Mirror II

Everybody loves a bad mirror.
It shows them the things they are not.

I envy the owners of bad mirrors.
Boy, are they a lucky lot?!

As for me, in the mirror I see,
the wonderful things that lie ahead of me.

I look myself in the eye,
and see all that I had been.

The days that I had loved so deep.
The days that I hated, and was mean.
The days I cried and soaked my pillow;
the days it felt like hell below.

Those moments of brilliant clarity,
the chaos and disparity…

A withered tulip blooms now,
And spring is made to fall.
The petty enjoy the ball,
And a damsel’s grace is washed off.

Everybody loves a bad mirror.
It shows them the things they are not.
Except there are no bad mirrors in this world so haute!

  1. Ana, you, as always have come up with yet another beautiful piece of work.

I love how smoothly you transition from different façades in the world to portraying your own self and your perception.

And the ending about there being no bad mirrors really makes one wonder as to how there’s a very fine line between the truth and a mere reflection, despite its transparency.
