I shall leave tomorrow for a day and all;
so, hold my hand, and join me in my last enthrall.
If I told you, “We live only once”,
would you in chagrin, in fluster, fear and fetter sink?
Or would you live it up and bask to the brink?
Tread that path, and make not haste.
Of serenity, get a taste.
Life is in beautiful walks abound.
We live only once, so make it count.
If I told you, “We live only once”,
would you die of terror hence?
Or to all your troubles, would you take a fence?
Life is a snug little glen and a collosal mountain too.
So, descend and climb, bit by bit.
And save a scene for me, won’t you?
We live only once, and I’ve lived well enough.
There’s not much left for me to pursue,
all I ask is to be laid to rest.
And a snug little den in a lovely glen shall do.
